Sunrise Rotary continued its tradition of supporting area charities during the Holiday season.
Four charities received $2,500 at our Holiday Charity Giving Breakfast on Tue. Dec. 17 at the Perry Hotel in Downtown Petoskey.  The recipients included the Northmen Den Youth Pantry, the Nehemiah Project, the Little Traverse Historical Society, and Bay Bluffs Palliative Care.  The four charities were chosen by club members in a fun bracket-style voting process known as the Coach Pollion Charity Championship in honor of Sean Pollion who passed away last year.  Sean was the chair of our Charity Giving Committee at the time, that committee is now led by Val Meyerson.  In addition to the four winning charities, checks for $1,000 were presented to two President's Choice charities including the Compass After School Program and the North Central Michigan College Childcare Initiative.

Our club recently supported the Manna Food Project with a $5,000 check through our Venison for Manna project.  That check was presented in conjunction with the Meijer Matching Grant program to turn our $5,000 gift into $10,000!  In the future we'll be supporting the Women's Resource Center and the Marty Van De Car Scholarship Fund with proceeds from our recently held Chef's Challenge.
